Transfer Switch Testing and  Maintenance

Coupled with any generator is the automatic transfer switch, or ATS, which is essentially the brains behind the generator's brawn.

While the generator performs all of the "work" in the event of a utility outage, the transfer switch is what monitors your incoming utility service to sense an outage, tells the generator when to start and transfer's the building's downstream electrical to generator power and when to transfer back.

Proper maintenance of the ATS is essential for an Emergency Power Generation System to function properly.  The recommendations for service intervals below are based on NFPA 110 requirements and/or common manufacturer recommendations.  As all equipment is unique, so please consult your owner and operator manual to confirm service requirements.

We currently offer the following ATS maintenance procedures:

  1. 30 Minute Transfer Tests - Recommended Monthly

  2. 4 Hour Transfer Tests - Recommended Every 36 Months (Natural Gas Applications)

  3. Transfer Switch Maintenance - Recommended Annually
